Hi, I'm Louisa.
In my HSC I scored 99.90, and now I help HSC students discover the study methods of the HSC's highest performers and apply these study skills in their own study. You can find out more about how I can help you below.
for students
It bothers me that a lot of the "study skills" I was told I "should" be doing for my HSC didn't actually work for me.
Let me ask you - do study timetables work for you? Well, they didn't work for me, at all! I could hardly ever get started when my study timetable said I should, and if I actually made it through the 1
hour study time I had allocated to a subject (after it took me a while to get into what I was studying), I was often on a roll, so then I had the dilemma, should I stop and stick to my study timetable,
or should I keep going since this seemed to be productive but then I'd run behind on my schedule, and have that guilty feeling of being 'behind' in my study.
for teachers
I teach my Top Study Secrets to high school students. I have been honoured to be a guest presenter for 5 years now at the NSW Hunter Central Coast's High Achievers (Gifted and Talented Students - GATS)
Camp. This is organised by the wonderful teachers from the region's local government schools as an initiative to encourage their schools' highest achieving students and equip them to perform at their
best in Year 12 and in the HSC.
I also have the privilege of speaking at high schools and teaching group of students, especially those in Years 10, 11 & 12, the study methods and techniques I used to do well in my HSC and achieve
a UAI (as the ATAR used to be called) of 99.90.
for parents
Many parents ask me what they can do to support their young person who is preparing for their HSC. It is natural to wonder how you can help, especially if you feel like you were never really great at
school, or it's been a while since you were at school yourself and learned calculus and many other things!
That's ok, because being a supportive parent isn't about being able to teach your child all the knowledge they need to know for the exams (that's what their teachers help with). Young people need their
parents as they are learning to navigate things in life like setting good habits, including study habits.
